Spirit Lodge Retreat - Massage On Premise

In my opinion, a key component of being on retreat is receiving a high quality massage!

My husband, Mike Burris, is a licensed massage therapist and even though I have a personal bias, one of the best massage therapists that I have ever experienced. I love and often crave a good massage, so I have bought massages from numerous therapists, in both Hot Springs locally and Louisville, KY (our former home). Having traveled extensively with our former occupations and for pleasure, the majority of our trips included a massage to alleviate body fatigue.

I supplemented my “away from home” massages with massages at home from my husband. Mike became a licensed massage therapist after we both received low quality, painful massages while traveling. Adding insult to injury, we had paid top dollar for those massages. I distinctly recall telling Mike to get licensed as a massage therapist because even as an amateur his massages were far superior to those that we had just suffered through, and even superior to the vast majority of those adequate massages that we had received in the past.

I suggested the concept of Massage to Go because if a girl’s hair gets mussed from a massage, it becomes a non-issue when she doesn’t have to go anywhere. It’s additionally beneficial to be able to stay in a deeply relaxed frame of mind and not to have to worry about driving after receiving a massage.

Individuals booking lodging at Spirit Lodge Retreat receive a preferred rate of $45.00 per hour or $60.00 for a 1½ hour massage. At our relaxed and secluded retreat (or bed and breakfast) setting of Spirit Lodge Retreat, located only minutes from the town of Hot Springs, AR, Mike serves as our on-site massage therapist. Being the home base of Massage To Go, all guests of Spirit Lodge Retreat can enjoy a massage on premise at this preferred rate.

The Hot Stones massage is only available at the Spirit Lodge Retreat location due to the necessary set-up time to heat the stones (in water) to the desired temperature and the extra time, work and equipment involved in this process.

The reduced rate for a Hot Stones massage is $60.00 for 1 hour and $75.00 for 1½ hours for Spirit Lodge Retreat guests (instead of the regular rate of $90.00 for 1½ hours without a room booking).

For a complete listing of all the massages available, please visit the Massage To Go website for additional details.

Mike’s specialty is a combination of deep tissue massage combined with vibrational therapy using a therapeutic tuning fork. As one who initially scoffed at the concept of vibrational therapy, after receiving it I have become an advocate. I describe it as the muscle just lying down, thus requiring less intensity from the massage therapist (and less residual soreness in the body). It really is marvelous!
